Sohar University enhances the employment opportunities of its alumni

Career Guidance Services at Sohar University held employment tests and interviews for university alumni, focusing on engineering specializations, in a ground-breaking move to improve employment chances for its alumni. The program was organized in collaboration with many private sector companies. The high turnout and cordial interactions at the events attest to the caliber and proficiency of the university’s alumni.

An introductory meeting was arranged by Jindal Shadeed Iron and Steel Company on the university campus in May. The meeting was intended for graduates of engineering majors, specifically chemical, civil, electrical and computer, mechanical, and electromechanical engineering. Following the meeting, job interviews were held for individuals who passed the employment tests, which were administered remotely to students who were anticipated to graduate this year as well as those who graduated last year. Several grads were chosen to proceed with the hiring process.

On the university campus, United Solar Stone for Polysilicon Project in Oman also hosted a presentation about the company for engineering majors and graduates. In May, there were job interviews. Eleven university graduates made it through the testing and interview process and were selected to proceed with the hiring process of the organization.

The Sohar Port and Free Zone also conducted employment tests for a group of previously announced vacancies on June, and approximately 215 graduates from various engineering specializations applied for these tests. These tests were followed by job interviews in preparation for selecting the best ones to fill the available positions. The number of companies nominated for it based on the outcomes of Sohar University reached 13 companies, and 15 job opportunities were obtained in a number of industrial sectors.

These programs are a reflection of Sohar University’s continuous efforts to improve its graduates’ employment prospects and give them the tools they need to succeed in their careers. By taking these actions, the institution can better position itself and forge collaborations with the business sector, establishing itself as a leader in the field of preparing and hiring graduates for positions in both the domestic and global labor markets.
