SU took place in International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking

Sohar University participated, Wednesday, June 26, 2024, in the activities of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking under the patronage of His Excellency Mohamad Al Kindi, Governor of North Al Batinah, and the North Al Batinah Governorate, Police Command, in cooperation with the General Directorate for Combating Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances. The activities included awareness and guidance lectures on combating drugs and their harm to the individual and society, as well as an exhibition of technologies and mechanisms used to identify and detect drugs and methods of treating them, presented by civil society institutions. Sohar University had a significant presence by presenting creative ideas using artificial intelligence and robotics to help raise awareness about drugs and answer everything related to addiction and drugs, presented by Professor Jabar Yousef and Dr. Mahmoud Al Bahri from the faculty of Computer and Information Technology. The participants received participation well, and His Excellency the Governor described it as a creative idea to increase awareness and the culture of quitting drugs.
