Sohar University Celebrates 1,164 Graduates from the 23rd Batch in the First Ceremony

Under the patronage of His Excellency Abdulsalam Al-Murshidi, President of the Oman Investment Authority, Sohar University celebrated the graduation of its 23rd batch yesterday evening, December 18, 2024, in its first ceremony. The event honored 1,164 graduates. The ceremony included students from the following Faculties: The Faculty of Business, the Faculty of Education and Arts (excluding Teacher Preparation program), the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology, and the Faculty of Engineering. It was held at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Center’s Al-Irfan Theater in the capital, Muscat.

The number of graduates from each Faculty is as follows: 388 graduates from the Faculty of Business, 345 graduates from the Faculty of Education and Arts, 227 graduates from the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology, and 204 graduates from the Faculty of Engineering.

The ceremony commenced with the Sultanate’s national anthem and a recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by address by the University’s Vice Chancellor, Dr. Hamdan Al-Fazari, who said:
“It is my pleasure to congratulate you, on earning your academic degrees, which you have achieved through perseverance, dedication, and invaluable time. You have our heartfelt congratulations and best wishes on this significant milestone in your lives. I also extend my congratulations to your families, friends, and everyone who supported you throughout your academic journey.”

He added:
“My advice to you is to utilize your knowledge and skills in serving your communities and contributing to the growth and development of your nations, each in their area of expertise and within their abilities. Set clear goals for your future, turn your ideas into actions, and be drivers of your own success rather than passengers in the journey of life. I wish you all success in achieving your aspirations. Stay connected to your Creator and the teachings of your faith, learn from those who came before you, embrace even small beginnings in your careers, and always express gratitude to those who have supported you.”

Following this, the graduate speech was delivered by Jamal Al-Nofali from the Faculty of Education and Arts, who said:
“Today, we stand at here at this a momentous occasion, filled with pride and joy, memories and ambitions. This is a moment to bid farewell to the past with all its challenges and sleepless nights and to embrace the future with hope and triumph.”

He added:
“Our years of study were a journey full of lessons, challenges, and successes. It wasn’t just about academics; it was a school of life that taught us patience in failure, humility in success, and teamwork in shared efforts.
What we have achieved today would not have been possible without Allah and the relentless efforts of the University in providing a supportive educational environment, academic assistance, and modern facilities aligned with global advancements. Thank you to our University, which has been and continues to be the foundation of our dreams and ambitions.”

The ceremony continued with the recognition of 29 top- distinguished graduates, followed by the awarding of certificates to the graduates.

Sohar University will organize the second ceremony for the 23rd batch this evening, Thursday, December 19, 2024, under the patronage of His Excellency Prof. Mahad Baawain, Minister of Labor. The second event will celebrate 2,233 graduates from the following faculties: the Faculty of Language Studies, the Faculty of Law, and the Teacher Preparation program. It is worth noting that the total number of the graduates for the 2 ceremonies is 3397.
