On Thursday evening, December 19, 2024, Sohar University hosted the second graduation ceremony for its 23rd batch, celebrating 2,233 graduates. The ceremony took place at Al-Irfan Theater, Oman Convention and Exhibition Center, in Muscat, under the patronage of His Excellency Prof. Mahad Baawain, Minister of Labor.
This ceremony featured graduates from the following Faculties: The Faculty of Language Studies (89 graduates), the Faculty of Law (118 graduates), and the Teacher Preparation program (2,026 graduates).
The event commenced with the Sultanate’s national anthem and a recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by address from the University’s Vice Chancellor, Dr. Hamdan Al-Fazari, who stated:
“Sohar University is honored to celebrate this joyous day by graduating the second cohort of students in this majestic academic ceremony, a new group of graduates equipped with the tools of knowledge and skills needed for the workforce.”
He further advised the graduates:
“May you succeed in achieving your goals. Stay connected Allah, learn from those who preceded you in your fields, and embrace even modest beginnings in your career. Show gratitude and appreciation to everyone who has supported you along your journey.”
The graduate speech was delivered by Rahaf Al-Mamari from the Faculty of Law, who shared her heartfelt reflections:
“Today, we stand at an extraordinary moment, a chapter we write with hearts filled with gratitude. This moment marks the end of one journey and the beginning of another—a transition from dreams to reality. Standing here, I find it hard to encapsulate emotions that transcend words. Four years—or perhaps longer for some of us—were not just a sequence of days or semesters. They were a life we lived here, a life where we saw ourselves grow, make mistakes, learn, fall, and rise again. We discovered our strengths, understood the essence of passion, and learned the meaning of effort, perseverance, and dreaming without limits.”
She added:
“Today, we embark on a new world where opportunities are not handed to us but created, and where courage is not an option but a necessity. Let us remember that we are not just graduates of a university but makers of hope.”
The ceremony continued with the awarding of nine Distinguished Graduates, followed by the awarding of degrees and certificates to the graduates. It’s worth noting that the total number of the graduate for the two ceremonies is 3,397.
