As part of its ongoing efforts to promote community awareness and create a safe, healthy educational environment for its students, Sohar University, represented by the Student Services Department, organized an awareness lecture in collaboration with the Executive Office of the National Committee for Drug and Psychoactive Substance Prevention. The lecture, titled “Prevention of Drugs and Psychoactive Substances and Their Impact on Individuals and Society,” was held at the Learning Resources Centre on the university campus.
The lecture targeted new students at the university, with the aim of providing them with valuable information about the health and social risks associated with drug and substance abuse.
Presented by experts in drug prevention, the session included a comprehensive overview of the different types of drugs and their direct effects on both the physical and mental health of individuals. The lecture also addressed the social and economic consequences of drug use, both for individuals and society as a whole. Additionally, the event featured an awareness booth for students to learn more about the topic.
