Sohar University hosted the inaugural Al-Arib Debate Forum on its campus on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, with participation from 9 higher education institutions in the Sultanate of Oman, under the patronage of Sheikh Abdullah bin Saleh Al-Buraiki.
The forum kicked off with an opening ceremony that included a debate dialogue session led by Nihad Al-Rashidi, a member and judge at the Oman Debate Center, as well as a musical performance by students from the Qithara group. During the forum, Mr. Khalfan Al-Quraini from the Directorate of Education in Al Batinah North Governorate presented an argumentation workshop, as well as a review debate in which groups of students from various higher education institutions participated in it. Members of Oman Debate Center moderated the sessions, including Mr. Asaad Al-Saeedi, Ms. Mahfuza Al-Marzouqi, and Mr. Mubark Al Qutiti. Al Maaradha team won the debate. The discussion was also accompanied by a photography and arts exhibition. The event closed with a celebration of the attendees.
