Prof. Nidal Al-Shamali and Prof. Hajar Harathi from the Faculty of Education and Arts represented Sohar University and Al-Otbi Center for Cultural and Heritage Studies at the Second International Conference of the Arabic Language Department, titled “Modern Omani Prose Discourse in Light of Reading Theories,” which was held by the University of Nizwa on October 3-4.
It’s worth noting that Al-Shamali’s study was titled “The Narrative Structure of the Omani Story.”, and Al-Harathi’s research was titled “The Dialectic of the Historical and the Imaginary in Bushra Khalfan’s Novels Al-Bagh and Dilshad.” The two studies are concerned with current genres of Omani prose and their quick shifts in development and improvement.
