14-18 January 2024, In alignment with Sohar University’s new strategies of global profile, academic excellence & research & innovation, spearheaded by our esteemed Vice Chancellor, Dr. Hamdan Sulaiman Al Fazari, Sohar University welcomed Dr. Firas Basim Ismail Alnaimi (Head of Smart Power Generation Research Center at Universiti Tenaga Nasional, Malaysia) as the Adjunct Professor. He is leading the Smart Power Generation Research Centre at Universiti Tenaga Nasional, Malaysia, and his appointment as Adjunct Professor at Sohar University is for a tenure of two years within the Faculty of Engineering.
Productive discussions have already taken place with key figures at the University. During his comprehensive week-long visit, Dr. Firas generously shared his extensive expertise and knowledge in multiple sessions with SU staff, IEEE students, faculty members, and postgraduate students. The ten workshops and talks covered diverse topics, including securing external grants, applying for patents, commercialization strategies, efficient management of master’s and Ph.D. studies, the application of AI in engineering, industry engagement, power plant optimization, and insights into smart power generation. Professor Firas expressed inspiration from the research lab facilities and the overall infrastructure of the university. We are excited about the collaborative journey ahead and the positive impact Professor Firas will bring to our academic and research landscape.
