Sohar University (SU) has developed a set of seven generic transferable skills and competencies which are referred to as Graduate Attributes. They define the essential skills and competencies that students will acquire throughout their studies, regardless of their chosen discipline or level. They are also considered in the development and review of all programs and inform the teaching and learning methods and assessment approach. These attributes are mapped to the six OQF characteristics (“Knowledge”; “Skills”; “Communication, Numeracy, & Information Communication Technology (ICT) Skill”; “Autonomy and Responsibility”; “Employability and Values”; and “Learning to Learn”.
The purpose of the attributes is to outline for students, faculty, and prospective employers the expected skills and competencies of SU graduates and their achievement of subject-specific learning outcomes.
