Sohar University has recently introduced two new programs within the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology: Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity. These programs address the growing demand for experts in these critical fields, driven by the modern advancements in artificial intelligence and the evolving needs of the labor market. Aligned with Oman Vision 2040, these programs aim to develop a workforce with advanced skills in artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, both of which are crucial for national and global security.
Artificial Intelligence:
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as a prominent academic field, aimed at training graduates to become experts capable of entering various AI sectors. AI-driven industries are set to play a pivotal role in the future development and economic growth of Oman.
Cyber security:
Although cybersecurity encompasses aspects of law, policy, human factors, ethics, and risk management, it is fundamentally a computing-based discipline. To address these challenges, students will gain cutting-edge technical knowledge, intellectual expertise, management skills, and practical experience. This comprehensive approach ensures that our alumni are versatile and adaptable.
The entry requirements for the program are as follows: Applicants must have successfully completed the General Diploma with a minimum passing grade of 50%. Additionally, candidates are required to have passed Mathematics and at least one of the following subjects: Physics or Chemistry.
