The Environment Authority in Al Batinah North has launched the initiative “Our Green Imprint in Academic Institutions”. As part of this initiative, 350 saplings of fruit-bearing and shade trees were distributed and planted on the campus of Sohar University. This initiative is part of a larger goal to plant 10 million trees and aims to expand tree planting and green spaces within academic institutions in Al Batinah North.
The initiative reflects the Environment Authority’s commitment to protecting and conserving vegetation cover, combating desertification and land degradation, as well as enhancing land productivity by improving the condition of affected ecosystems and reducing their vulnerability to climate change and drought.
It is worth noting that this national project aims to strengthen cooperation with both governmental and private entities, working towards environmental restoration and the dissemination of green belts in the governorate by planting green spaces in educational and academic institutions across various wilayats in Al Batinah North with diverse trees, shade trees, fruit trees, and ornamental trees.
