Biography
Prof. Ahmad Kayed is the Dean of the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology at Sohar University in Sohar, Oman. With over 35 years of experience in both academia and the IT industry, Prof. Kayed has made significant contributions to the field of computer science. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science and Information Technology from the University of Queensland in Brisbane, Australia , awarded in 2003, as well as an M.Sc. in Mathematics from Jordan University in Amman, Jordan, in 1992 , and a B.Sc. in Computer Science from the same university in 1989. Additionally, he completed a Higher Education diploma from Monash University in Australia in 2005.
Throughout his career, Prof. Kayed has been actively involved in research, teaching, and leadership roles. He has worked with esteemed institutions such as Monash University in Australia, Middle East University in Jordan, Fahad Bin Sultan University in Saudi Arabia, and Applied Science University in Jordan. His research interests lie in the areas of cloud computing, database security, and semantic web, with a particular focus on semantic and conceptual engineering for securing cloud databases. He has published over 50 papers in high-impact journals and has supervised numerous Ph.D. and M.Sc. students.
In addition to his academic contributions, Prof. Kayed has been actively involved in national and international committees related to quality assurance, strategic planning, and research funding evaluation. He has played a pivotal role in shaping the vision, mission, and core values of his faculty and university, as well as in reviewing and creating IT-related curricula, programs, and research projects.
Outside of academia, Prof. Kayed has held various roles in the IT industry, including solutions architect, project manager, general manager, and IT consultant. His extensive experience spans domains such as security, cloud computing, and software engineering.
