Dr. Jabbar Yousif from the Faculty of Computer and Information Technology participated as a keynote speaker in the scientific symposium “Applications of Artificial Intelligence and Their Impact on Daily Life,” which was held by the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology/University of Basra/Iraq on 12-26-2023.
Dr. Jabbar’s lecture addressed the role of artificial intelligence in enhancing the sustainability of renewable energy systems and improving the efficiency of energy production. He also touched on the importance of applying sustainable solutions by relying on artificial intelligence applications to produce intelligent applications that help reduce carbon emissions in the air. Dr. Jabbar added that the most critical problems facing the field of renewable energy are the legislation of effective laws that help in their easy implementation, as well as increasing awareness of the need for clean and cheap renewable energy in reducing the percentage of carbon emissions that reach approximately three gigatonnes from burning coal, gas, and oil alone. Dr. Jabbar pointed out that deep learning using mathematical models can accurately predict, with more than 97% accuracy, the amount of energy needed for the future during a specific period, which helps decision-makers take the necessary measures. The attendees praised the importance of the lecture and the novelty of the information presented, and they interacted with it by asking many questions.
