Under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed Al Busaidi, Wali of Sohar, Sohar University, represented by the Staff Development Section and Human Resources Department, have hosted the second Administrators Gathering for Higher Education Institutions, titled Utilization of AI in HR at HEIs in light of Oman Vision 2040. This event was conducted on Monday, April 22, 2024, on campus. The event has hosted participations from HR staff as well as other departments from seven Higher Education Institutions.
The Gathering covered four main topics: Engineer Nasser Al-Maamari, Director of the Oman Vision 2040 Implementation Follow-up Office in the Office of the Governor of Al Batinah North, presented the first topic, which discussed the role of artificial intelligence in improving performance and increasing the efficiency of human resources in higher education institutions, as well as its relationship to the Oman Vision 2040. The second topic was how to employ artificial intelligence tools and techniques in human resources, which was delivered by Engineer Raif Al-Zakwani, an information technology and artificial intelligence specialist, certified trainer, and creator of the Smart Business Company.
Dr. Salim Al-Shuaili, Director of AI and Digital Transformation at the Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology, addressed the third subject, which was on the obstacles of using artificial intelligence in human resources departments. Engineer Yaqoub Al Maktoumi, Digital Transformation at OQ, addressed the fourth subject, which focused on process engineering in human resources. A final panel discussion was also conducted about the future of artificial intelligence and future developments in the Sultanate. The 2nd Administrators Gathering for Higher Education Institutions offers an opportunity to develop administrative work processes in public and private higher education institutions and the transformation towards the usage and utilization of artificial intelligence technology. Additionally, such event is the first step, to aligned the HEIs towards using AI techniques to improve the performance of Human Resources in Higher Education Institutions in Oman.
