In line with the strategy plan 2023–2028, which emphasizes the university’s dedication to community service and includes community and industry as one of its themes, efforts are being made for students in grades 5–12 as part of the Sohar University Summer Program 2024. The initiative will run from July 1 until August 1, 2024. As one of the events and activities for enrolled students in addition to the English language teaching program, the University’s Health, Safety, and Environment section implemented a program in health, safety, and the environment for the students, along with a practical exercise for the Barka building evacuation plan. The plan received positive feedback from the students.
Additionally, it conducted a workshop on artificial intelligence led by teacher Mubarak Al-Omouri. The workshop covered the definition of artificial intelligence, its significance in our daily lives, as well as its advancements, varieties, and applications. The program contains a lot of related activities in addition to the English language, which is intended to make it a more thorough and expansive experience. The Computer and knowledge Technology Workshop, which covered computer fundamentals, knowledge about the worldwide information network, computer security and privacy initiatives, and digital lifestyles, is the most significant of these programs. The introduction of electronic services and their advantages was also covered in the workshop.
IELTS workshop: The workshop goes over the format and requirements for taking the test, as well as how to answer questions correctly to get the necessary score. Learning Resources Center: Students will visit the center on a field trip to gain knowledge about its offerings, borrowing procedures, and information-searching techniques.
Mr.Talib Al-Dhabari, who oversees the implementation of the Sohar University Summer Program 2024 for school students stated: “The program is an opportunity for exchanging knowledge between the participating students. The program at Sohar University is distinguished by its comprehensiveness of many skills that are not limited to language only, as the program gives students the opportunity to get to know some technological skills and the use of some of the university’s facilities, such as the learning resource center, in addition to the skills and method of searching for information accurately and how to verify its authenticity and distinguish useful information,”
