Sohar University organizing international tour to the Republic of Turkey for the outstanding students who are distinguished in academic and activity field for 12-days. Lead by Dr. Awadh Al-Mamari the PRO VC of students’ affairs and supervised by Ms. Amal Al-Fedheili.
The delegation received a briefing on Bursa’s heritage and tourist attractions, which included a scenic sea trip and a land journey through the pine forests on a safari. They visited Mount Uludag, notable for its 600-year-old historical tree, and explored traditional markets reflecting Turkish culture.
In Istanbul, the students toured landmarks such as Sultanahmet City, the Sultan Ahmed Mosque, and the Hagia Sophia Mosque. They also visited Istanbul Technical University (ITU) and its Scientific Research Center ITUARI, as well as Marmara University and its Nanotechnology and Biomaterials Research Center (NBUAM). The possibility of academic and research exchanges between the universities was discussed.
In Ankara, the delegation visited Ankara University’s archaeological library and the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations, which showcased historical artifacts from across Turkey.
The program continues until July 17, with more tours and visits planned. The trip aims to enhance students’ cultural knowledge and encourage interaction with Turkish society. Sohar University plans to organize more educational trips to enrich students’ practical and cultural experiences.
This trip is the second international journey organized by Sohar University for its top students. Last summer, a similar program took students to Malaysia. These initiatives reflect the university’s commitment to providing students with a comprehensive educational experience, equipping them with the skills and knowledge to excel in various fields.
