SU Starts its Annual Staff Development Week

Sohar University (SU) organized its Annual Staff Development Program for the new academic year 2024/2025 on September 2nd, 2024 and will continue until September 8th, 2024. This event is organize to professionally develop all university staff, both administrative and academic as well as new joining staff. The Staff Development Week is a good opportunity to gather all staff from all levels and it works as a key initiative for enhancing the skills and competencies of both administrative and academic staff at the University.

The first day of this staff development week, opened with a speech by the University Vice Chancellor, Dr. Hamdan Al Fazari. Then it by honoring the winners of the VC Outstanding Achievement Award for the academic year 2023/24 and the VC Outstanding Teaching Award. Then the long-serving staff who have completed 10 and 20 years of service at the University. Finally, the VC had honored the SU Journal team who had successfully published the 2nd edition. And also he did honored the QS working Team who have given their full time and efforts to support SU’s QS file.

Then the program continued a presentation from Mr. Mohammed Al Breiki, Head of HSE, about HSE matters, and the program ended with a speech by Dr. Ali Al-Hassnawi, Director of QA, Planning & Accreditation Department, addressing the university’s readiness for institutional re-accreditation.

The Staff Development Week program features various training activities, workshops and lectures targeted at all employees in both academic and administrative positions. Additionally, there will be a comprehensive induction program for new staff joining the university.

It is also important to mention that this year’s Staff Development Week will include the 7th  Teaching and Learning Conference, scheduled to be held on September 5, 2024.

In this regard, Ms. Maryam Al Amri, Director of Human Resources said: “The annual staff development week is aimed to enhancing staff skills at all levels. Staff will have opportunity to engage with all activities during the week and network with colleagues across university. We believe that investing in our staff is essential to our university’s success.”
