Sohar University, represented by the Student Activities Department, took part in the Emirates Environmental Group (EEG) Environmental Public Speaking Competition for university and college students, held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, from November 20 to November 23, 2023.
Sohar University took part in two separate axes with two distinct teams. Team (A) is made up of the following students: Al-Muntasir Al-Balushi, Tasneem Al-Shibli, Reem Al-Breiki, and Aseel Al-jahwari. Multinational corporations, economic growth, or environmental impact are all shown on the axis. In this axis, the team finished second out of 25 teams from various nations across the world.
The university team (B) was comprised of the following students: Al-Moataz Al-Ghaithi – Osama Al-Naqbi – Lubabah Al-Ameriyah – Maryam Al- Shehhi. The team placed second out of 25 competing teams from various nations across the world in the axis: Microplastics that are found everywhere – the unseen plague. Sohar University places a high value on student activities because it believes in the value of these activities in refining and developing student abilities, enhancing students’ knowledge, broadening their awareness, and developing their personalities.
It aims to promote these student activities while also broadening its local, regional, and worldwide engagement. The institution has always participated in this competition, represented by the Student Activities Department, because of its relevance in identifying environmental issues and developing innovative solutions to them. The advanced results gained by the two teams demonstrate the university administration’s interest in and support for student activities, which is directed by the institution’s VC, Dr. Hamdan Al-Fazari. Sohar University’s student activities are developing and highlighting all scientific, cultural, social, artistic, and sporting activities, which play a pivotal role in developing the student’s personality, highlighting his talents, and relieving the pressures of university academic life through diverse and high-quality activities and events.
